Feinberg Launches New Center for Bedside Medicine

Brian Garibaldi, MD, MEHP, professor of Medicine and of Physiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and director of the Johns Hopkins Biocontainment Unit (BCU), has been named the Charles Horace Mayo Professor of Medicine and the inaugural director of the new Center for Bedside Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, effective September 1.

NUPOC Holds First White Coat Ceremony

On January 19, Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center (NUPOC) held its first-ever White Coat Ceremony for students earning O&P master’s degrees in 2025. NUPOC presented the students with a white coat to signify the start of their academic journey to becoming a certified practitioner.

First-year PA Student Awarded National Health Service Corps Scholarship

Lisa Namatame, a first-year Physician Assistant (PA) student, is the recent recipient of a scholarship from the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program. The program, supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration, awards academic scholarships to students pursuing primary healthcare training who commit to a minimum of two years of full-time service in geographic areas or healthcare facilities in the U.S. with limited access to healthcare services. Faculty mentoring and role modeling is a critical part of medical education. During the clerkship years, Feinberg students are asked to name faculty members who have demonstrated exemplary professionalism.
